Seriously. I just went ahead and posted the first three chapters of Threads to FanFiction.net last night (it was probably around 6 or 6:30 when I did it) and as of right now, my jaw is sitting on my lap. These are the latest stats for it:

Chapters: 3 (because I put the first three up and, although I update it here daily, plan to update there once a week)
Reviews: 5 (yeah, I get more reviews here, and more in-depth, but it's still nice to see)
Hits: 309 (that's the part that has me doing O.O face)
C2s: 1 (omgwtfbbqsauce?! When the fuck did that happen?!)
Faves: 4 (cue my jaw landing in my lap)
Alerts: 4 (rinse and repeat Faves reaction)

I kid y'all not: The last time I got so many hits or anything of the like on FF.net within 24 hours was when I posted my first Death Note fic. Those still seem to get hits, but nothing quite like this.

I flattered and totally speechless. Just... worlds of wow.

Nah, just really not much to say that isn't sims-related, and since I opened up simpathology for that sort of thing, it usually shows up on there. Yesterday's rant was one exception. Today's little newslink is also an exception, but with 99% less rant!

I can honestly picture the scene: the rescue workers are starting to get tired and feel helpless, the whales are tired and definitely feeling helpless. Everyone's ready to call it a day and let nature take its course.

Then, from the depths of the sea, here comes Moko the Wonder Dolphin.

Moko: *in human* Hey, guys! What's going on?
Rescuers: Well, we've been trying to help these whales, but there's no more we can do.
Moko: What've you tried?

(One long detailed account of whale rescue efforts later...)

Moko: Pffft! Silly bipeds! All you have to do is talk to them!
Rescuers: Um, we don't speak whale.
Moko: *in dolphin* Of course not, your puny minds can barely handle the nuances of your own mother languages plus a few extra. I suppose it's up to me. *in whale* Hey, guys! A little lost there?
Whale #1: Yes, ma'am. We're trying to get back to the sea but there's this long stretch of beach in the way!
Moko: Oh, silly. The sea is this way!
Whale #2: But we might get lost again. Can you show us how to get out?
Moko: Of course I can, for I am Moko the Wonder Dolphin. I can speak over one thousand human dialects, whale, squid, three dialects of shark, and I can show you exactly how to get home! Follow me, boys!

(Moko valiantly leads the whales back out to sea.)

Rescuers: Wow! Thanks, Moko the Wonder Dolphin!

...of course, that might be the coffee talkin'. It'd still make a great feature film with a few explosions thrown in.

Or rather, yesterday evening's. I came up with a new word:

wikabout
noun: the process of randomly searching through Wikipedia with no firm destination or goal in sight.
Example: Don't disturb her, she's on wikabout.

Laiko has discovered that wikabouts generally are fully random. Yesterday she started out on a page about the Evangelion movie and wound up on the page for The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. I once managed to go from Death Note to an article about the solar system (really, I have no idea). The word wikabout should really be in the dictionary somewhere. Maybe they can reference it from "Google"....

Anyways, I've been up about an hour now even though I really wasn't ready to get up (stupid internal clock; Kitty gets to sleep because her internal clock has a weekend setting, but Laiko and I are hardwired for early hours, boo) and the coffee is starting to kick in. I'm gonna go get another mug and try to load my LJ Inbox again; it's had The Lag all morning and it's really annoying me. I even turned off my email in order to try and get it to load, but no joy. Ugh.

Really find myself wanting to work on Ex Nusquam again, but not until later this evening (we have mucho cleaning to do today, don'tcha know?); also find that a novel that's not related to the first one (omg, I forgot my own novel's name! I'm a terrible author!) is in my head. It'll be awesome, I'm sure. I already have one character fleshed out, but I can't tell you much more than his name at the moment. His name is Dominic Williams, and if all goes well you'll meet him soon.

Yeah, public, because I have an announcement of sorts to make and I know some people watch this journal for any word on stories I'm working on. And I have a story-type update.

As of 11:15 this morning, I have completed the revamp/rewrite/edit of "Nobody's Listening."

Yep, the Weiss fic. It needs to go through my best-friend-and-favourite-beta apollymi before I start re-uploading it to FF.net, but as of this moment I'm finished going over the old and should be ready to start with the new.

And that is all I have to say. Although I'm half-considering posting it to katsukofic as well, or at least linking it there. Ah, well. More thought on that.

And seriously, Death Note peeps? If the interest "death note" was a hot button, I'd've likely been the first to go. If it's still a concern, do what I did: change the interest from "death note" to "death note (anime/manga)". It looks silly but it makes the point.

Public post time yet again. Because, seriously, I decided to do a bit of research before fully surrendering to the mass panic and found this article from Warriors for Innocence. I suggest reading it thoroughly, not merely stopping when you see something you don't like. These people are whackjobs trying to get everything online banned, but they do want to protect children. As for support communities, they expressed a desire to see them remain on LJ.

You may find it easy to blame us for the deletion of these sites, but we are disturbed by their deletions as well. LJ is obviously trying to avoid accusations of discrimination by deleting all sites with specific interests listed. They made that decision, not WFI. Go ahead and point a finger at us. Call us vigilantes and idiots. Accuse us of banning or deleting you. But you forgot something. LJ is hosting your sites. It’s their call, not WFI’s.

So I'm not worrying, as I still have a GJ should anything untoward happen. But I am also making sure that I've not violated TOS anywhere (I do believe this would include giving credit for any fandom stuff, which I know some folks tend to forget and that I plan to double-check on myself) and then going to just relax. Should something happen... well, then it'd be my bloody fault, now wouldn't it.

EDIT: Apparently the entire site for WFI has malware hidden on it; I've thus removed the link and suggest that anyone who visited run a spyware scan stat. I ran a spyware scan twice (once before updating my Spybot and once after) and came back with nearly 200 bots on my computer.

I've had to do it (and yep, public post for this): I need to weed out my doujinshi collection and I'm starting with some of my Gundam Wing.

All is mentioned within the context of the original post, but I'll announce it here as well: I've finally gotten the .zip uploaded to the Asylum to make it a permanent download link, and I've also linked it through katsukoarts for easy access.

And that's about it. Aside from also going through the icon/arts journal and correcting some image links; I forgot that when you change usernames it doesn't auto-change the scrapbook links!
